While gas prices are slightly higher this week, Georgia was among a dozen other states seeing the lowest Memorial Day prices at the pump since 2005.
That's according to GasBuddy.com. Analysts say this may be a great summer to hit the road since summer gas prices are shaping to be quite a bit lower than expected. Average retail gasoline prices in Georgia have risen 1.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.20 yesterday. Prices in the state are more than six cents lower than last year. GasBuddy provides real-time prices and reviews of gas station amenities and services.
The lowest price is $2.09 on Jefferson Road. Nationally, gas prices are down nearly one and half cents.
