The Georgia Department of Labor is extending unemployment benefits.
That extension comes thanks to funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act. In addition to the extension of state benefits, federal weekly supplements of $300 are available to unemployed individuals through September 6th.
Those still receiving unemployment should continue with their weekly requests. But people whose benefits have ended will need to file new claims. The GDOL announced Thursday that Georgians have received more than $19.6 billion since March 21 of 2020, more than the past 57 years before the pandemic combined.
