Georgia Senator Hospitalized After Apartment Fall

Georgia U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson has been hospitalized after he fell and fractured four ribs.

In a news release Wednesday evening, the senator's spokeswoman Amanda Maddox said the 74-year-old fell in his Washington apartment Tuesday night.

Maddox says Isakson is "in pain, but resting and doing well."

Isakson was admitted to George Washington University Hospital.

In 2015 the three-term senator announced that he suffers from Parkinson’s disease. It was not immediately clear whether this week’s fall was related to this condition.

The Republican has been a senator since 2005. Isakson’s seat will be on the ballot in 2022.

On Twitter, Gov. Brian Kemp said "The Kemp Family asks Georgians across our great state to join them in praying for @SenatorIsakson’s swift recovery."
