Voting numbers continue to surge in the second week of advanced voting, with 7,688 people that have waited in lines to cast their ballots early and about 12,400 that have sent theirs as absentee through the mail, according to Charlotte Sosebee, the Director of Elections and Voter Registration in Athens Clarke County. Just last week, nearly 2,589 people had early voted and 9,095 absentee ballots had been received.

Four years ago, during the 2016 Presidential Elections, Sosebee says the Board of Elections had 2,744 absentee ballots and 23,423 people vote in advance.

Clarke residents can also cast their ballots Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm and from noon until 4 pm Sunday at the Board of Elections. In addition, there are several sites around Clarke County which will be open for voting Saturday from 9 until 4. They include: the Athens Regional Library, Miriam Moore Community Center, ACC Extension and ACC Tennis Center. For more information, visit www.accgov.com.

In-person early voting runs through Friday, October 30th.
