Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The past two days have reported the largest increases in deaths due to Covid-19 in Georgia since May. 78 people died of the virus Tuesday. Today, 81 people have died from the virus and more than 3,300 reported cases of the virus have emerged. This brings the total to more than 150,000 cases and 3,335 deaths.

As of July 21, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that more than 3,000 patients are currently hospitalized due to the virus. 62% of total ER beds are in use. 87% of Critical Care Beds are currently occupied, and 83% of General Inpatient beds are also occupied. It’s worth noting that these percentages include a range of patients, not just those affected by Covid-19. However, there have been 428 more hospitalizations due to the virus today.

Clarke County is now reporting just over 13-hundred confirmed cases, while the number of deaths have remained steady at 15 for the past few weeks. In Barrow County there are 817 cases and 31 deaths, Jackson County has 667 cases with 13 deaths, Oconee County has 314 cases and 15 deaths. Madison County is reporting 239 cases and four deaths. Oglethorpe County has 150 cases and seven deaths.

Statewide, Fulton County leads Georgia in the number of cases with more than 14,000, followed closely by Gwinnett County.
