Madison County Deputy Arrested on Drug Possession Charges

A Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy has been charged with drug possession. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s office, 31-year old Gabriel Dalton, of Elberton, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for Possession of Methamphetamines after a traffic stop by the Georgia State Patrol in Hull. Dalton was off-duty and in his personal vehicle at the time.

He was arrested after the sheriff’s office received information and immediately turned it over to the GBI to investigate. Dalton was fired after his arrest and booked into the Madison County Jail.

After a bond hearing, Dalton was released on an $8350.00 bond and the case turned over to the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, there is no indication Dalton was in possession of the drug while on duty.
