The State Botanical Garden located on the UGA campus, is hosting a new holiday experience. The inaugural Winter Wonder Lights show kicks off this evening. Jenny Cruse Sanders is the Director of the garden.
“The winter lights show at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia creates a new opportunity for guests to come and explore the State Botanical Garden in a whole new light,” Cruse Sanders said.
The garden is decorated with nearly a million lights for the show.
“You’ll see tress of multi-colors and really colorful, bright details in the garden beds and in the children’s garden there are whimsical creatures and sparkling fairly lights.”
Sanders says she hopes the yearly exhibit will become a new winter destination for Athenians and visitors.
“The garden glows, it looks completely different at night. I think that this new light show will attract new audiences to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. I think it will attract people to come visit Athens, our community and maybe spend some extra time here.”
The Winter Wonder Lights show starts this evening and runs through January 9th. For more information or tickets, visit botgarden.uga.edu/wonderlights. Temporarily, the garden will close at 4 pm to regular visitors in preparation for the light show.
