Number of COVID-19 Cases in Georgia Lower Monday

Coronavirus rates were on the lower side Monday. There were 2,440 cases and 32 deaths in Georgia. This brings the total cases to nearly 220,000 and deaths to 4,229. 48 people were also hospitalized Monday.

 

As of August 9th, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that 56% of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 85% of critical care beds are occupied, and 78% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. 58%  of adult ventilators remain available.

According to the state health department, Clarke county has added 187 cases but no new deaths, bringing the total to 2081 cases and 18 deaths. Barrow county has 1296 cases and 32 deaths. Jackson County has 1070 cases, 16 deaths. Madison County has 403 cases with six deaths, Oconee County is reporting 441cases and 15 deaths, while Oglethorpe has 218 cases  and seven deaths.
