Number of COVID-19 Cases Remains High in Georgia

The rate of Covid-19 cases and deaths continues to remain high according to today’s report from the state health department. There were 3,660 confirmed cases today and  109 deaths. Total cases are now  over 226,000, and total deaths are now at 4,456. There was also a surge of hospitalizations today, with 348 reported. 

 

 

As of August 10th, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that 51% of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 86% of critical care beds are occupied, and 81% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. 57% of adult ventilators remain available.

According to the state health department, Clarke currently has had 2150 total cases and 19 total deaths. Barrow County has had 1355 cases and 34 deaths. Jackson County has had 1118 cases and 17 deaths. Madison County has had 424 cases with six deaths, Oconee County is reporting 450 cases and 15 deaths, while Oglethorpe has had 226 cases and seven deaths.
