Superintendent Demond Means Leaving CCSD

Clarke County School District

In what comes as a surprise to almost no one, Clarke County School Superintendent Demond Means is leaving the district.

Flagpole Magazine reports School Board president LaKeisha Gantt announced the board has entered into negotiations for his exit. That statement came after the school board met for nearly four hours behind closed doors.

The manner is which Means is leaving is unclear. There has been no comment as to whether the superintendent is resigning, negotiating a buyout, or being terminated.

Means joined the Clarke County School District as superintendent on July 10, 2017. Previously, he was the superintendent of the Mequon-Thiensville School District in Mequon, Wis.

WUGA will have more on the situation on this week’s edition of Athens News Matters.
