UGA Forms Search Committee for New EOO Director

The University of Georgia

After eight years of serving as Director of UGA’s Equal Opportunity Office, Janyce Dawkins will be retiring from the position on October 1. In response, The University of Georgia has formed a search committee to initiate a national search for its new director of the EOO.

President Morehead released a statement regarding Dawkins’ service in her time as director:

“Under Dawkins’ leadership, EOO has played a pivotal role in ensuring that UGA provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff that is free from discrimination and harassment.”

Some duties of the EOO position include investigating complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, and civil rights, along with acting as UGA’s Title IX Coordinator and the Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 Coordinator.

The search committe is made up of 11 dedicated members with UGA’s General Counsel, Mike Raeber, at its lead. In the meantime, Beth Bailey, UGA’s Senior Associate General Counsel, will serve as interim director of the EOO beginning October 1.

Those who wish to nominate applicants can contact Michael Luthi, UGA Search Group Director, at luthi@uga.edu.
