UGA Hosts Virtual 18th Annual MLK Jr. Freedom Breakfast

The University of Georgia holding its 18thannual Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast Friday. Though virtual, the event will still contain many elements of the traditional in-person gathering. Dr. Michelle Cook is the Vice Provost of Diversity and Inclusion and Strategic University Initiatives. 

Hamilton Holmes Jr., son of Hamilton Holmes Sr. delivering the keynote address for the event. 

Holmes’ father was one of the first Black students to desegregate the University of Georgia in 1961, along with Charlayne Hunter-Gault This year’s theme is: The Power of the Dream: Forging a Path Forward.” The video premiered Friday and can be seen on UGA’s Facebook page. It is free and open to the public.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
