Biology’s New Frontier

bioinformatics.jpg

Welcome to the digital age, where computers connect us, entertain us - and may help cure us. Using computers to study life at the molecular level, the field of bioinformatics provides insights that previous generations could only dream of - from exposing the genetic signatures of malignant tumors to developing personalized drugs to cure them. Dr. Jessica Kissinger, director of UGA's Institute of Bioinformatics, discusses this new frontier in biology, and how bioinformaticians are bringing us the medicine of the future.
