Public school students in Clarke County returned to school this week, and along with the optimism of a new school year, the Clarke County School District faces a number of challenges. At a Legislative Review Committee meeting this week, Athens Clarke-County commissioners discussed community input on a Pet Registration Program that would require dog and cat owners to pay a fee to register their pet and its vaccine status with the county. But, after seeing overwhelmingly negative feedback from the public, the majority of the committee decided not to pursue the measure. District 6 Commissioner Jesse Houle joins Alexia Ridley to discuss that proposal, as well as several of the items from Tuesday's mayor and commission meeting.
