New report details the state of the Latino community in Georgia
People who identify as Latino make up a growing portion of Georgia’s population. However, few sources seek to publish data reflecting the experiences of the state’s Latino community in one place. Local nonprofit argues against Senate Bill limiting bail charities
Senate Bill 63 almost sounded the death knell for a local nonprofit called the Athens Area Court Watch Project. The volunteer organization pays low-level cash bails for people in the Clarke County Jail. The bill, which was set to take effect July 1st, would have limited certain organizations from paying the bails of more than three people.
The nonprofit, however, filed a lawsuit that paused the portion of the bill limiting cash bails. John Vodicka is the co-coordinator of the Athens Area Court Watch Project. We sat down to discuss the latest updates in the lawsuit, and what the group has done in the past few months.

He sat down for one of his last interviews with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss his own personal health journey and the people who made his recovery possible.
