The search continues for a 21 year old man suspected of being the gunman in a downtown Athens shooting that injured seven.

Athens-Clarke County Police say that seven people were injured during a shooting in downtown Athens early Sunday morning, and that as of Sunday afternoon, the suspect is still at large.

Police are searching for Pharoah Devonell Williams, 21. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information as to Williams' whereabouts should call 911 or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 706-705-4775.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has named a suspect in a downtown Athens shooting that sent five people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

That suspect, 21 year old Pharoah Devonell Williams, is considered to be armed and dangerous. ACCPD asks anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts to call 911 or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 706-705-4775. 

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to Williams' apprehension.

The Athens Banner Herald reports that seven people were shot in one incident in downtown Athens. Police officials say that the shooting happened early Sunday morning, and that the victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As of early Sunday morning, the suspect remains at large.

Chris Dowd of Athens Politics Nerd reported last week that the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia dismissed a call to criminally investigate Athens Clarke County Manager Blaine Williams’ alleged obstruction into an open records request in 2018.

This is the latest chapter in an ongoing saga involving Clarke County Auditor Stephanie Maddox, who accused Williams and Mayor Kelly Girtz of discrimination and harassment surrounding Maddox’s formal requests for information on the local government’s 2018 wage study.
