After making landfall in Texas this weekend, hurricane Harvey has caused devastating flooding. Volunteers and contractors from Georgia are headed down to help.
Fifty-five American Medical Response ambulance crews headquartered in Stone Mountain left for Texas today, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The crews will arrive in Dallas and then receive their assignments to disaster areas from there.
The crews are contracted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA, and the American Medical Response believes more will be dispatched.
Georgia Red Cross volunteers are also headed down to Texas, as well as other near-by states where many residents displaced from the storm have evacuated.
