On Friday, September 1, the University of Georgia’s Hodgson Wind Ensemble presents “Fire and Ice,” its first concert of the season. But more than just a collection of music, the performance is a statement about one of the most pressing global challenges of our time – climate change. Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner, who conducts the Hodgson Wind Ensemble, sat down with Martin Matheny to discuss “Fire and Ice,” beginning with how the concert’s structure was inspired by headlines from earlier this year.
