ACCPD Searching for Two Suspects in an Attempted Rape

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is currently searching for two suspects in an attempted rape.  

Online Athens is reporting that a woman was assaulted on Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m., while she was walking home. The woman lives in the University Oaks apartments off of West Broad Street. On her walk home from the Golden Pantry convenience store, she encountered two men in the parking lot of the Hilltop Grille restaurant. The men started to follow the woman and attacked her behind the University Oaks Complex. Police reported that the suspects hit her in the face and chest, and tried to take off her clothes. However, they ran away when she screamed for her husband.

 

Police said the woman described the two suspects as light-skinned black males, one of whom was about 5-foot-6 and wearing black sweatpants and white boxer shorts. Police said he also wore a beanie and a dark hoodie. The other suspect was described as about 6-foot, but no clothing description was given.
