UGA holding the 16th Annual Freedom Breakfast this morning at the Tate Student Center. The Winners of the Fulfilling the Dream Award included student Charlene Marsh and professor Dr. Paige Carmichael.

Marsh, a fourth-year UGA student studying international affairs and political science, was a bit overwhelmed by the honor.

“I guess the best word for me right now would be undeserving, especially getting to see the people who have won the award in the past, but at the same time very inspired,” Marsh said.

Dr. Carmichael is a professor of Veterinary Pathology at UGA’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She was touched by the recognition of her peers and the broader community.

“Talking about fulfilling a dream, this fulfilled all of my dreams,” Carmichael said. “I was honored and also so appreciative of the community here at the university that voted to give me this award and also very appreciative to the greater community of Athens-Clarke County.”

The third award winner is Michelle Pearson, an Athens business leader.
