An Athens man has been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting death. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, 26-year old Marquavius Knox, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Jamelle Brightwell of Bogart.
According to a media release from the department, the incident happened Monday morning around 5:49.
Officers responded to a Shots Fired call in the vicinity of Hickman Drive before arriving on the scene to find the non-responsive Brightwell.
Officers rendered aid to Brightwell until EMS arrived. Brightwell was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
