The Lyndon House is hosting its Summer Shows Opening Reception Thursday evening. Program Supervisor Didi Dunphy says one of the five agricultural products Georgia is known for is the focus of this year’s summer shows.

“Did you know that the state of Georgia is known for five P’s in agriculture? poultry, peaches, peanuts, pecans and well, paper, you guessed it,” accodring to Dunphy.

Cut and Paste: Works of Paper highlights contemporary art in Georgia. The works of nearly a dozen different artists will be showcased.

“From Steven Anderson’s “Tree Rings,” featuring torn, scratched and sanded paper drawn on with markers and pens, to represent 300 years of a tree trunk; to Jerushia Graham’s complex and delicate cut paper pieces that are all figurative and look at the idea of otherness.  To Lucha Rodriguez’ cascading wall sculptures, all of which push the limits of this fragile material of paper.”

In addition to Cut and Paste, an additional exhibit, Raucous, is opening. It focuses on the works of five women artists.

“Who are exploring and challenging the nature of power and strength through explosive color and materials and scale.”
