Athens News Matters: Commissioner Russell Edwards on a Western Downtown Historic District

Think about downtown Athens today – bars, restaurants, shopping. But decades ago, downtown Athens was a much more businesslike place – home to gas stations, car dealerships, even light manufacturing. Much of downtown is considered a historic district, but west of Lumpkin Street, that’s not the case. ACC Commissioner Russell Edwards joins Alexia Ridley to talk about the proposed district.
