GBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Oconee County

The GBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Oconee County that ended in the death of an Athens woman. 

 

Oconee County deputies shot and killed a woman armed with a blow torch and knife after the woman charged at them with the knife. The shooting happened Monday morning after deputies arrived at a home in Athens for a domestic call. The sheriff’s office said deputies attempted CPR but the woman died at the scene. Body camera footage will be released after the GBI reviews the shooting. 

The woman has been identified at 40-year old Julia Moss.
