The Athens Clarke County Board of Education met Thursday evening to discuss and vote on future academic calendars and prioritizing school workers and staff for COVID-19 vaccinations, among other topics.
The Clarke County Board of Education voted to approve a resolution calling on state officials to prioritize school workers for COVID-19 vaccinations by including them in the Tier 1A+ vaccination group. This would include teachers and bus drivers, as well as school and district staff. The Atlanta Board of Education passed a similar resolution earlier this month, to which Governor Brian Kemp stated that, while he agreed, the current vaccine supply simply isn’t enough to expand the tier to include school employees.
