A fiscal year 2022 budget of over $150 million was approved by the University of Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors as its annual two-day spring meeting concluded Friday. The UGA Athletic Association was one of a handful of Power 5 athletic departments that did not implement staff layoffs, cuts or furloughs. The Board also heard from the Student Wellness Committee, represented by Faculty Athletics Representative David Shipley, on the initial stages of UGA student-athletes in upcoming Name, Image and Likeness legislation. The legislation, signed by Governor Brian Kemp earlier this month, will allow college athletes to profit off of things like endorsements, autographs, personal appearances and ads.
