Suspect Arrested in Athens Armed Robbery, Sexual Assault

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has made an arrest in an armed robbery and sexual assault which occurred near Foundry Street and Strong Street earlier this week. According to a media release, ACCPD arrested 20-year old Quinntylis D. Teasley of Athens, on charges of rape, two counts of armed robbery, and two counts of aggravated assault. He is being held without bond at the Clarke County Jail.

Two women were robbed at gunpoint, and one sexually assaulted, early Wednesday morning.

According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, shortly after 2 am, the women were approached by a suspect with a firearm in the area of Foundry Street and Strong Street. The suspect stole several items from the victims before forcing one woman to a secluded area at gunpoint and sexually assaulting her.

The ACCPD recommends the following safety tips: When possible, use rideshares to travel to and from your destination(s). If using rideshares is not feasible, travel in groups, utilizing highly populated and well-lit areas.
