Athens-Clarke County Commissioners will get an update on a proposed roundabout intersection at Broad and Hancock Streets at their work session tomorrow, but don’t expect construction to begin anytime soon.

The roundabout is a joint project between the Georgia Department of Transportation and ACC, and construction isn’t scheduled to begin until early in 2025, wrapping up about 16 months later. Before rebuilding the complicated intersection begins, ACC and GDOT will have a lot of work to do, including more public information opportunities and lots of plan approvals. The total project is expected to cost close to six million dollars, with ACC providing $3.3 million and GDOT funding the rest.

Tuesday's work session begins at 5:30 pm and will be streamed live on the county's YouTube channel.
