Sheriff John Q. Williams

Sheriff John Q, Williams is asking the Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission for more money to shore up staffing issues at the Sheriff’s office and the jail, particularly when it comes to mandatory overtime.
Due to staff shortages, deputies and detention officers must work overtime. The Sheriff’s Office is short 53 positions. Williams is hoping to fill those slots and he’s asking the ACC government address the salary discrepancy between officers at the ACCPD and deputies.
Williams spoke with WUGA about his nearly million-dollar request.
