Mail delivery in North Georgia is drawing scrutiny and criticism from a North Georgia congressman.

Representative Andrew Clyde, a Republican from Jackson County, is calling on the United States Postal Service to investigate the process that shut down several local Processing and Distribution Centers and moved their operations into a large central processing facility near Atlanta.

Clyde said in a letter to the Postal Service’s Inspector General that the consolidation has caused disruptions to mail service in his North Georgia district. He also contended that his office has seen a 90 percent uptick in calls and emails from residents complaining about slow mail service.

In his letter to Postal Service officials, Clyde called the situation, “completely unacceptable.”
