Oconee County Schools are the best in the state. That’s according to the most recent numbers from the Georgia Milestones Assessment System. The number one ranking is a result of Oconee County Schools Milestones End of Grade and End of Course assessment results. OCS ranked well above average in each of the 23 assessments for the 2018-2019 school year.

Anisa Sullivan Jimenez is Communications Director for OCS. She says the state results are just one of the ways the district measures success.

“We have over a 96% graduation rate, eight of schools earned a 5 out of 5 for school climate rating and the others were 4 out of 5,” Sullivan Jimenez said. “We’re number one in the state for financial efficiency and students and teams earned a variety of honors in art, athletics and academics.  This is just one of the many ways that we measure success.”

She says among the highlights of the report; OCS was the number district in the state for 4th grade English/Language Arts and Algebra 1.

“It’s really exciting, and we’re also number 1 out of all county school systems just like us as well as city school systems. This is just a great pat on the back for everyone in our entire community. Whether you work in our system or have a child in our system, it feels really good to be a part of something that is the best in the state.”
