Athens-Clarke County Extension Office to reopen in new building Sept. 10

ACC Government

The current Athens-Clarke County Extension Office located at 2152 West Broad Street will close permanently to the public as of Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.

It will open to the general public in its new building at 275 Cleveland Road on Tuesday, Sept. 10 under its normal operating hours. The public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony at the new building on Monday, Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m. prior to its public opening.

The construction of the new building is part of the SPLOST 2011 program approved by ACC voters in November of 2010. The project provides for facilities to support staff functions, program and educational services, the 4-H program and other community events sponsored by the Extension Office.

Athens-Clarke County Extension is the local office of the statewide County Extension System and is a cooperative venture between the ACC Unified Government and the University of Georgia that provides education and information to all citizens of ACC in the areas of agriculture, horticulture, the environment, families, food and nutrition and financial security.
