Local hospitals are still straining from the surge in coronavirus cases.

St. Mary’s Hospital is listed as busy and Piedmont Athens Regional is listed as severely overcrowded by the Georgia Coordinating Center.

In Region E of Georgia, where Athens hospitals are at the center, ICU beds are at 95% capacity, while general inpatient beds are at 89% capacity.

Clarke County has reported 1,028 positive coronavirus cases in the past two weeks.
