Millions of American kids who went to school in the 1980s and 1990s might remember dealing with buying supplies, hunting squirrels, and the ever-looming threat of dysentery in the educational computer game Oregon Trail. The original game was invented in 1971, but it really hit its stride as a cultural touchstone following a 1985 reboot. We talk to one of the designers of that reboot.
