The University of Georgia holds on to its position atop the AP Top 25 college football poll after a 16 – 6 win over Kentucky on Saturday. That win closes out Georgia’s SEC schedule and marks the second year in a row that the Bulldogs traipsed through their conference schedule without a loss.
The win over the Wildcats marks UGA’s 13th straight win over Kentucky, and Saturday’s game was Georgia’s lowest-scoring game of the season, and the only game where a normally-explosive Bulldog offense was held to under 20 points.
After the game, Coach Kirby Smart had praise for both his team and the unranked Wildcats.
"[I'm] really proud of when our guys' backs are against the wall, how they come out fighting and what they do," Smart said at a press conference. "[We] certainly could have played better, probably, in the red area, could have stopped some drives defensively, you know, we gave them a couple conversions on penalties and things, but I give Kentucky a lot of credit for bouncing back, being a really physical football team."
Georgia faces in-state rival Georgia Tech in Athens on Saturday, then the team heads to Atlanta on December 3 to face LSU in the SEC Championship.
