Two suspects charged with aggravated assault on UGA campus

Two suspects have been charged by the UGA Police Department with a number of crimes. No other suspects are being sought and there is no indication of any continuing threat. The victim, a visitor to campus, received injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Zachary Thomas Baker, (25), a visitor to campus from Athens, Georgia, has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault, one count of weapon on school grounds, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count of reckless conduct.

Mark Luke Jarrett, (24), a visitor to campus from Athens, Georgia, has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault, two counts of weapon on school grounds, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count of reckless conduct.

The quick response of both UGA and ACCPD police officers was instrumental in making this case, in addition to the ready availability of security camera footage to assist in establishing the sequence of events.
