Modeling Brain Disease

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

Dr. Steve Stice wants to use pig skin to learn how to cure brain diseases such as Parkinson’s. Using skin cells to grow stem cells, he models Parkinson’s disease in a petri dish. He’ll then introduce a library of compounds into the petri dish looking for candidate cures for the disease. Dr. Stice is the Director of UGA’s Regenerative Bioscience Center and the DW Brooks Distinguished Professor in the College Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
