Medical Marijuana

  Could legalizing “bud” help save some green in prescription drug costs? This is just one of the questions Dr. David Bradford, of UGA School of Public and International Affairs asks in a recent study. The article is co-authored with his daughter, Ashley Bradford, an MPA grad at UGA. Theirs was one of the first studies to show a decrease in the number of prescriptions written to treat diseases like depression, anxiety, and seizure disorders using data from Medicaid and Medicare recipients after the legalization of medical marijuana in certain states. They discuss the importance of their study in demonstrating the cost-effective use of marijuana as medicine.
