Fear of Police and Discrimination

  Police lights flashing in the rearview mirror is a nerve wracking experience for everyone. However, for members of the African American community interactions with the police are often more than just nerve wracking– they can be deadly. In this segment Dr. Michael Robinson, assistant professor of Social Work at UGA, discusses policing disparities in black communities across the United States and the implications of these disparities for family life. Dr. Robinson also explains the role that social and news media play in the potential reversal of these injustices.
