The second episode in June is the second instalment of several shows over the next two months that focuses on the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship Leadership in Civic Engagement Institute at UGA from July 8 to July 17, 2022. The episode re-affirms the introduction of the institute, its staff and provides general information about the 25 Young African Leaders coming to UGA from 20 African countries. The episode also provided two quick African news updates about the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) organizing the next edition of the U.S -Africa Business Summit on July 19 – 22, 2022 in Marrakech, Morocco, and increasing political activities in Nigeria with major political parties completing their primary elections. The episode also continues with the introductory conversation on the components of the MWF Leadership Institute and the different nations represented. Finally, the episode commemorates Democracy Day in Nigeria with the short poem, June 12 by the host in honor of the late Chief M.K.O Abiola the winner of the 1993 annulled presidential elections, generally agreed as the most free and fair elections in the history of the nation. May the soul of the most unifying political candidate in Nigerian history continue to rest in peace. As always, the episode features selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from two collections, Rough Guide’s The Music of Africa, and Putumayo Presents, African Beat.
