The World of Wonder playground is holding an opening celebration for a new installation. ‘Gyroscope House,’ an interactive playscape by artist Lawrence Stueck, will be celebrated July 4th from 9 to 11 am. The work is the latest collaboration between the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission’s, Athens-Clarke County’s Public Art Master Plan, SPLOST, and a citizens’ user group.
The holiday event will have free snacks, face painting, chalk art, and a brief presentation by the author. The work was selected from an open call for submissions. Gyroscope House is designed to enhance children’s understanding of eco-systems and geography through graphics and motion.. It is being permanently installed at the playground, located at 325 Whit Davis Rd.
