ACC Library Holding Blood Drive

Athens Regional Library

The ACC Library is holding a blood drive Wednesday. Donors are urged to come in, check out a book and roll up their sleeves.

The American Red Cross has issued an emergency call for blood as a result of a critical blood shortage and the Athens Library is hoping to help meet the need. The facility is hosting a blood drive Wednesday. Red Cross Communications Manager Kristen Stancil says the agency is hoping to make the process easier with Rapid Pass.

“So with Rapid Pass, on the day of your blood or platelet donation you can complete all of the health history portion of the questionnaire before your donation at your home or work computer,” Stancil said. “So the questions that we ask about we you traveled as well certain medications you’re on, you can actually get that all out of the way before you come in to the donation site.”

The drive is Wednesday July 19, from 2 to 7 pm. For more information, call (706) 613-3650. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
