Northeast Georgia Health Centers Will Receive Part of $2.3 Million Dollar Federal Grant

US Department of Health and Human Services

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that 32 Georgia health centers will receive a chunk of funds from a new $105 million dollar federal grant.Health centers in Georgia were awarded a total of $2.3 million from the federal grant. Part of the money will go to Northeast Georgia locations, including Athens Neighborhood Health Center. Health centers in Albany, Marietta, Palmetto, Ringgold and Swainsboro will also receive funds.

The grant is meant to improve the quality of health care, increase health care access, address health disparities and achieve patient-centered medical home recognition, according to a press release from the HHS.

The HHS says that in 2016, one in 12 U.S. residents relied on a federally funded health center for primary care services.
