Georgia Teacher Shoots Himself Inside Lithia Springs High School

Authorities are reporting that a Lithia Springs High School teacher shot himself inside his classroom around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday morning. The man, who was described as an 18-year employee, was taken to a local hospital. His condition is stable. No other details have been released about the man's identity.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Jesse Hambrick, the Douglas County Sheriff, said no students were injured and no students witnessed the incident. Hambrick also said after the teacher shot himself, he left the classroom and was found by another teacher who called 911.

Classes at Lithia Springs High, which is about 15 miles west of Atlanta, were canceled on Thursday, but plan to resume Friday .
