ACC Public Utilities Temporarily Turning Off Water Tuesday for Some Areas

ACC Government

The Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department is advising customers the department will turn off water for some customers Tuesday. The outage will affect Evans Street and portions of West Hancock Avenue, from Baxter Street to Waddell Extension behind Classic City High School. It’s due to the relocation of a fire hydrant.

The service is expected to be off from 9 am until 4 pm. The department warns after the water is turned back on, those in the affected may see brown water in the lines due to mineral sediment stirred up when a line is bright back into service. Running water for several minutes should clear the line. The department says water is safe to use and consume.

For more information, call the ACC Public Utilities Department’s Water & Sewer Division at 706-613-3495.
