"Hollywood South" Lecture and Panel Discussion at UGA

UGA Today

Members of the UGA and Athens area communities are invited to a free, first-hand look at the impact of entertainment in Georgia.

A group of entertainment heavyweights will discuss the entertainment industry in Georgia. The “Hollywood South: The New $9.5 Billion Georgia Industry” discussion is part of the Signature Lecture series and is sponsored by the Provost Office.  Grady Dean Charles Davis says panelists include Gail Anne Hurd, executive producer of the “The Walking Dead,” Will Packer, executive producer of “Straight Outta Compton.”

“This was a great idea by the Provost’s office, in fact, to create a charter lecture dedicated to the film industry in the state of Georgia,” Davis said. “So we looked at bringing in some people who were expert. This has become one of the great economic development success stories in the state’s history.”

The event is Monday afternoon at 2 pm in the UGA Chapel. Grady College is also hosting a conversation with some of the panelists at 10 am Monday. After the panel discussion, Dean Davis will moderate a question and answer session. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions on Twitter using the hashtag #HollywoodSouth.
