New Senior Living Option Coming to Athens

Presbyterian Homes of Georgia

Within the next few years, seniors in Athens and surrounding areas will have a new living option available to them.

Presbyterian Homes of Georgia is breaking ground Friday, Sept. 21 on a new senior living community on Macon Highway, near the intersection Highway 441 and Hog Mountain Road. The community will be on 70 acres of land and will include 107 cottages, 22 villas and 100 apartment homes.

Alex Patterson, vice-president of Presbyterian Homes of Georgia, Inc. says the new community will be designed with seniors’ lifestyles in mind.

“We’re proud to bring this incredible new lifestyle option to seniors in the Athens area that not only celebrates their social energy, but also their intellectual spirit, all in a beautiful and engaging atmosphere,” Alex Patterson said.

The community will provide health care and leisure activities for seniors in the community. On the health side, the community will be able to provide support for Assisted Living, Memory Support, Skilled Nursing, and Rehabilitation. For the leisure activities, the community will boast a swimming pool, walking trails, and numerous restaurants.

Construction on the homes is set to begin soon, and construction should be complete by spring 2021. Next Friday’s groundbreaking will take place at 10 a.m.
