1 Man Hurt in Shooting Involving Georgia Police Officer

State police in Georgia are investigating a shooting involving a local officer southeast of Atlanta that injured one man.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said in a Twitter message that the shooting happened in Henry County early Monday.

News outlets reported the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. in a parking lot at the Tailgaters sports bar near McDonough.

Henry County Police Capt. Joey Smith said there was a fight in the parking lot and officers intervened. Smith said the man who was shot was taken to a hospital. That person's name has not been released. There was no word on his condition.

No officers were hurt.
