Just after 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 4, Athens-Clarke County Police responded to a call near Trail Creek Street and First Street. Their presence was in response to someone discharging firearms.
Once officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Curry Cole Calloway with a gunshot wound, and they began to give him first aid. Calloway was transported to a local hospital after EMS arrived, and he was pronounced dead at the facility.
Two individuals who are believed to be connected with the shooting have been detained by ACCPD, but this is still an active investigation.
