Georgia Deputy Dies on First Day of Training

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says one of their deputies has died on his first day of training.

News outlets report Deputy Spencer Englett suffered a traumatic medical event and collapsed during training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center on Friday. Medics rushed him to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him.

The sheriff's office describes the recently married, 29-year-old as an exemplary deputy who served with distinction and honor.

Englett joined the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office on May 1, 2017. He previously worked for the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office is asking the community to keep Englett's wife and family in their prayers along with the sheriff's office's extended family who is also grieving his loss.
